Seafood Boils are like a one-pot meat, where everything is cooked together, and served together. This recipe contains potatoes, corn, onions, blur crabs, and shrimp.

Traditional Seafood Boil
Ingredients
  • 6 large potatoes cut in half
  • 4 Vidalia or other sweet onion cut in half
  • 1 tablepsoon salt
  • 1 dozen live blue crabs
  • Crab boil mix Old Bay works well, to taste
  • 5 garlic cloves whole, peeled
  • 4 lemons cut in half
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 dozen corn on the cob
  • 5 pounds shrimp unpeeled
  • Melted butter tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, or remoulade sauce, for dipping
Instructions
  1. Fill a large stock pot about 2/3 full of water and bring to a boil. Add in the potatoes, onion, and the salt, and cook for 20 minutes. Add in the crabs, crab boil mix or Old Bay to taste, garlic, halved lemons, and vinegar. Lower heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  2. Add in the corn, and simmer for another 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the pot from heat, and add in the shrimp. Let the shrimp stand in the water for about 5 minutes, or until they are cooked through.
  4. Drain, then layout the food on a large platter or on a paper lined table top.
  5. Serve hot.
